This section is intended for people who may have special needs or
requirements who are considering visiting Turunç. It is not comprehensive
but we will add to this section as we receive information or requests from
people for help. If you cannot find the information you require, or have any
particular questions, please email us, we will be pleased to try and help.

Turunç has evolved from a small fishing village into a tourist centre and
is continuing to make changes to improve access and cater for all visitors.
This program will continue and we will provide any feedback we consider
appropriate to the proper authorities. We have split this section into:

Mobility
Most buildings in the village are no more than 3 or 4 storeys high and lifts
are not generally provided. Staff tend to be extremely helpful, however,
and most places can arrange ground floor accomodation.

The centre of Turunç is generally flat and the streets are block-paved and
in good order. Kerbs are a little higher than in the UK but most have been
lowered in places for access. There are some drains running across their
width. The walkway next to the beach is a little narrow and access to the
beach tends to be via a few steps but staff will happily help you.

The best way to assess how well the village meets your needs is to
look around using the Virtual Tour on this site.

Climate
Being on the Mediterranean coast, Turunç has a wonderful climate
and can get very hot in the summer - easily reaching over 40°C. The
sun can also be very bright and intense. If you are vunerable to this
in any way, you may prefer to visit in May or September/October when
it can still get very warm but it is not so intense and nights are cooler.
Always bring plenty of protection and be careful in direct sunlight.

Dietary
If you have any special dietary needs, most retaurants and hotels
will be only to happy to try and help. The food tends to be very fresh -
especially the fruit and vegetables - and freshly cooked to order.

If you suffer from a nut allergy, please note that whilst nuts are not used
a great deal in dishes, they are served in a lot of places and may be
stored near other food. If you have any concerns, please speak to the
manager of the place you intend to eat.

Medical
If for any reason you require medical care whilst in the Turunç, there is a
doctor available in the village. If you require hospital treatment, there are
two excellent hospitals in nearby Marmaris which are modern, clean and
offer an excellent standard of care. They are private however and
Turkey is not a memebr of the European Union so make sure you have
adequate medical insurance.
